If your relationship has broken down, we are here to help you take clear, steady steps forward. Whether you are married and ready to file for divorce or you are separating after a long-term partnership, our team provides solicitor-led guidance with fixed fees and straightforward advice. We explain your legal position and help you manage the process with clarity and calm.

Divorce and separation involve more than just ending a relationship. There are legal rights, obligations and long-term consequences that affect your finances, property, children, and peace of mind. We help you understand where you stand and what you can expect, so you can make confident decisions about the next stage of your life.

Understanding the divorce process

In England and Wales, you can now apply for a divorce without blaming the other person. This is known as no-fault divorce. You can apply alone (as a sole applicant) or together with your spouse (as joint applicants). The application is submitted online through the courts and follows a clear legal process.

Although the system has been simplified, problems can still arise. These may involve delays, non-response from the other party, disagreements over finances, or issues with documentation. We support you throughout and take care of the legal steps on your behalf.

If you are not married but separating from a long-term partner, we can still help. You may want a separation agreement, advice on your property rights, or clarity about your responsibilities towards children. These matters can be complex and emotionally difficult, but we provide clear, focused legal advice.

What we offer

We guide you through the divorce or separation process from start to finish.
Our service includes

We also explain your options around finances and child arrangements. If you choose to proceed with further legal support in those areas, we provide a separate fixed quote in advance.

Fixed fee for divorce application

Our fixed fee for a straightforward no-fault divorce is £750. This includes solicitor time, case preparation, and all communication until the divorce is finalised. We do not add VAT.

The government court fee for divorce is separate. As of 2025, this is £593 and paid directly to the court. If you are on a low income, you may be eligible for help with court fees, and we can advise you on how to apply.

If your situation involves extra steps, such as locating a missing spouse, translating documents, or dealing with a contested response, we will explain what is involved and quote for any additional work before proceeding.

Timescales

A typical divorce in England and Wales takes around 6 to 8 months. This includes a mandatory 20-week reflection period between application and confirmation, followed by a further 6-week wait before applying for the final divorce order.

If your case involves additional issues such as disputes over money or children, the process may take longer. We will keep you informed at every stage and help you manage expectations.

Why legal advice is important

Even with the new no-fault system, a divorce is still a legal process with long-term implications. Mistakes or delays can create stress and cost you time and money. We help you avoid common problems such as unclear documents, missed deadlines, or confusion about financial and parental rights.

We also make sure your application reflects your best interests and is tailored to your needs. Many people start the process online without advice and later find themselves confused, frustrated, or unprepared. Speaking to a solicitor early gives you clarity and control from the beginning.

Separation without divorce

If you are not yet ready to divorce, or if you are unmarried, we can still support you. A separation agreement is a formal document that outlines who is responsible for property, debts, or parental duties.

While not legally binding like a court order, it shows intention and can protect you in future disputes.
We help draft clear separation agreements and explain your options under family law.

Cultural and religious considerations

We understand that legal separation may intersect with cultural or religious expectations. If your circumstances involve religious divorce, family pressure, or overseas marriage documents, we take these factors into account and advise you on how to navigate the legal process with dignity and protection.

Disbursements and additional costs

Some family law matters involve payments to third parties. These are known as disbursements. They are separate from our legal fee and may include charges from courts, interpreters, experts, or external professionals involved in your case.
We will always explain any disbursement in advance, including what it is for, when it will be needed, and the total amount payable. You will receive a clear breakdown before any cost is incurred, so you are never caught by surprise.
Examples of common disbursements in divorce matters include

If a disbursement is required, we will confirm the full cost in writing before proceeding and tell you whether it will be paid directly or handled through our firm. You will remain in control of the decision.

Who will handle your case

All divorce and separation cases are handled or supervised by a qualified solicitor. You will receive a written client care letter confirming what is included, how much it will cost, and who will manage your case. We do not outsource legal work to call centres or unqualified staff.

Language support

We support Bengali, Sylheti, Urdu, Hindi, Punjabi, Arabic, Somali and a range of other languages. Let us know your preferred language when contacting us. We can arrange an interpreter if required.
