Legal Fees
We believe that clients should know exactly what they are paying for and when. At Rashid Solicitors, we operate a fixed-fee model for all agreed work. You will never be charged without prior agreement or uncertainty. We do not offer legal aid, but we provide affordable, transparent legal services with flexible arrangements for larger matters.
You can speak directly to a solicitor during a free 15-minute consultation before making any decisions. If your case is suitable, we will explain the scope of the work, the total cost, and what is included.

Timescales
Most immigration applications are prepared within 2 to 4 weeks from receiving your instructions and supporting documents. We will provide you with a tailored estimate depending on the complexity of your matter.
Example timescales:
- Spouse visas: typically prepared in 2–3 weeks
- Bail applications: usually within 3–5 working days
- Naturalisation: around 3–4 weeks from instruction
Decision times depend on Home Office processing.
We will keep you informed of any changes.
Disbursements and Third-Party Costs
Some matters may require payments to other professionals. These are called disbursements and are separate from our legal fees.
They include but are not limited to:
- Home Office or Tribunal application fees
- Interpreters or translation services
- Medical or expert reports
- Barrister representation (if needed)
- Land registry or background check fees
You will always be told in advance if disbursements are required, what they are for, and how they are paid. Where possible, we will provide a fixed or estimated cost before you incur any charges.
VAT
There is no VAT on our legal fees.
However, disbursements charged by other professionals may include VAT.
If VAT applies, this will be explained before any payment is made.
You will not be charged VAT unless it is lawfully required by a third party.
Hourly Rates (Where Applicable)
Most of our work is fixed fee. If your matter requires hourly billing due to complexity or change of scope,
this will be discussed in advance and confirmed in writing.

How We Agree Fees
We will always confirm fees in writing before we begin work. Fixed-fee services are agreed based on the defined scope of work. That fee will not change unless you request additional work or your case develops in a way that requires further legal action outside of the scope of what was agreed.
If anything changes, we will explain it clearly and issue a revised quote for you to review and approve. We do not carry out additional chargeable work without your consent.
All clients receive a written client care letter explaining what is included in your legal service, what is not included, and how we will proceed.
Payment Terms
For larger matters such as Skilled Worker applications or multi-stage appeals, we may offer staged payments. This will always be confirmed in writing in advance.
Full payment must be received before we submit any documents to the Home Office, courts, or other official body. This ensures your case progresses without delay
or compliance risk.
What Fixed Fees Cover
Each fixed fee includes:
- Eligibility review and legal advice
- Document review and preparation
- Drafting of legal submissions or cover letters
- Communication with the Home Office or Tribunal
- Updates throughout the agreed scope of work
and agreed before proceeding.
What Is Not Included
Fixed fees do not include:
- Government or court fees
- Disbursements such as interpreters or expert reports
- Appeals or reapplications unless separately agreed
- Urgent requests made at short notice without prior agreement
offered additional services where appropriate.
Who Will Handle Your Case
All matters are handled or supervised by a qualified solicitor. Our Principal Solicitor has over 17 years of post-qualification experience and specialises in immigration, family, and housing law. She also has wider legal experience and directly
oversees all work carried out by the firm.
You will receive written confirmation of who is responsible for your case and how to contact them. If any consultants or assistants are involved, their work will be supervised, and all legal advice will be reviewed to meet professional standards.
